For this week’s lineup of vintage watches we’re pulling no punches and showcasing some really top-notch stuff. From sporty in steel to dressy in gold (and something sporty in gold), read on to see what’s cookin’! 1974 Rolex GMT-Master ‘Pepsi’ Ref. 1675 Does anything really need to be said about a 1675? The iconic Rolex reference is recognizable from across a crowded room and will always elicit a knowing glance for those who understand what it is. This particular example is from 1974, has a matte dial, and has lume that has aged beautifully. It doesn’t really get much better than this! 1988 Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse ‘Jumbo’ Ref. 3738/100 And now for something completely different: the Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse. This watch is about as far from sporty as you can get. The shape is based on the golden ratio, and there really is something just pleasing about looking at the watch. Combine the innate beauty of the shape of the case with a svelte automatic movement with Patek-level finishing and you’ve got a real stunner. 1972 Heuer Carrera ‘Ferrari’ Ref. 1158CHN In 18k Gold Maybe you’re in the market for something you can wear behind the wheel of a racecar *and* with a suit and tie. Look no further than this truly insane Carrera from the early '70s. The Carrera is obviously an icon and to be able to own this legendary watch in solid 18k gold would be the cherry on top of any collection. Not only is the watch amazing, it comes on a gold bracelet as well as a beautiful HODINKEE racing strap. The Full Set Rounding out the offering this week is a funky Waltham Diver, a Breitling Chronomat with a fun pop of color, and an OG Seiko professional diver. Check it all out in the HODINKEE Shop!
